Copper engraving, 'Drawn and Engraved by J[ohn] Andrews, with original outline colour.
'Published as the Act directs Jan'y 3rd 1796'; subsequently appearing as Plate XIX of 'A Geographical Atlas of England, Divided According to its Natural, Political, Civil, Ecclesiastical, Ancient and Modern Divisions, to which is added a Political Chart of Europe', John Stockdale, 1809.
Plate size:13 1/2 x 10 1/4" - 342 x 260 mm. Overall: 19 3/8 x 13 5/8" - 485 x 345 mm.
The map itself in generally good condition; the sheet is a little ragged, missing its bottom left hand corner (a triangle of approximately 2":50mm); ditto, a notch gone from midway right hand side. Both would easily be remedied were the page to be trimmed or mounted.
The map, based on a meridian of 'London', shows - as its title promises - the racecourses of English and Welsh counties where present.
