Greenwich Theatre ... the early years.

Description

Paperback (A4), published 1998. 24 pages, 48 black and white photographs by Stephen Moreton- Prichard recording productions staged at Greenwich Theatre between 1969 and 1984.

Good, sound condition.

A wonderfully evocative record of many of those who trod the boards at Greenwich Theatre during the 15 years that Stephen Moreton-Prichard worked there as front of house photographer.

“Stephen Moreton-Prichard's initial career was in the army but in 1960 he picked up his first professional camera and spent the next 38 years capturing on film a wide variety of subjects for a wide variety of clients. Buildings were speciality but portraiture was to come later when, in 1969, Ewan Hooper’s dream of opening the Greenwich theatre came to reality. Pre-opening photographs were needed, and Steven answered the call magnificently. He was to enjoy a long relationship with Greenwich, not only recording progress as the building came to life but by being there for dress rehearsals of each production, producing photographs for the front of house displays and publicity stills. His work is an extraordinary and unique record of the development of one of London’s early community theatres over a period of 20 years.” Neil Rhind.
