'Anatomy' was published as Plate XXI for the Encyclopaedia Britannica. Bell was a Scottish engraver and publisher and co-founder, along with Colin Macfarquhar, of the Encyclopaedia Britannica that began publication in 1768. This is one of the very many engravings he made to illustrate that work.
