A very attractive and despite its small size, a rather splendid portrait of Boney. Barry Edward O'Meara (1786–1836) was the Irish surgeon who accompanied Napoleon to St. Helena and became his physician, having previously been surgeon on board the Bellerophon. He is also remembered as the author of Napoleon in Exile, or A Voice From St. Helena (1822) - a book sympathetic to Bonaparte and hostile to his gaoler Sir Hudson Lowe in equal measure.
