A charming sketch of the Old Royal Naval College from Island Gardens, on the north bank of The Thames.
Thomas Robert Way (1861-1913) was a painter and printmaker, who also designed posters for London Transport, most notably of Battersea Power Station. At the turn of twentieth century he produced a series of topographical lithographs of London. Way was a friend of James McNeill Whistler, about whom he published two books Mr Whistler's Lithographs (1905) and Memories of James McNeill Whistler (1912).
