This classic view from Observatory Hill, showing Greenwich Park on a Bank Holiday, is well suited to the medium of steel engraving. The fine detail is so delicately engraved that even the distant, London skyline and shipping on the Thames is clearly described.
Prior has included a typical cast of characters in this lively scene, including fine ladies and food sellers, a one legged Greenwich Pensioner and a rather stout lady with parasol, toiling up the hill with the helpful arm of her companion.
