A Map of the World From the latest and best Authorities

Copper engraving with original hand colour. Published circa 1790.

Image size: 9" x 17 1/4" plus margins

Generally very good condition throughout. Original folds, as issued. Some light offsetting. Repair to edge of paper to lower right hand margin.

A charming late eighteenth century twin hemisphere map of the world, by an unidentified publisher.  The map shows the route of Cook's voyages. Australia is represented as New Holland, with only Sharks Bay (named by William Dampier in 1699), South Cape, Nuyts Land and Capes Sandwich, Capricorn and Morton indentified across the entire continent.
