North Polar Chart

Lithograph with printed colour by Keith Johnston FRGS; from The Royal Atlas of Modern Geography, published by A.K. Johnston, 1893.

Image size: 17 1/2 x 13 1/2" plus title and margins.

Generally very good condition throughout. Original horizontal fold, as issued. Minor loss to extremities of paper, not affecting image.

A highly attractive chart of the North Polar regions, printed in full colour, indicating land above 2500 feet in elevation, snow fields and glaciers, barren tundra lands, region of northern forests, political boundaries and submarine telegraph cables. The central white section of the map, with the 'Unknown Region' at its heart, denotes the sea ice in its average extent. The most recent Polar expeditions to be shown are those of George W. De Long (1881) and Adolphus Greely (1882).

£145 unmounted, unframed. Plus postage, if required.
