This map is the work of W. Kentish, a pupil of Form IV, Watford Endowed School. They apparently date from around 1900 when young Kentish might have been about 16 years old. Other examples currently available - search 'Kentish' - and see also, 'Colouring In' on our Blog.
There is no Oklahoma shown; the 46th State of the Union was not created till 1907. Utah, the 45th (created in 1896) is present. The Baja Peninsula (Southern California) is given as part of Mexico. North of New York State everything is rather vague!
