Metal statuette of the standing figure of Vladimir Ilyich Ulyanov (1870-1924). Date and place of manufacture unknown, but certainly not of recent vintage. The metal may be bronze, but more likely 'spelter' -  an alloy of equal parts of copper and zinc - a metal that has been used since about the 1860s to make statues, tablewares, and lamps that resemble bronze.

13" high, standing on a base, 2 1/2" x 4" approximately.

In very good condition with a lovely overall patina suggesting that the piece is probably relatively old.

Lenin was one of the leading political figures and revolutionary thinkers of the 20th century, who masterminded the Bolshevik take-over of power in Russia in 1917, and was the architect and first head of the USSR. See: http://www.bbc.co.uk/history/historic_figures/lenin_vladimir.shtml
