Lahloo, Tea Clipper, Built 1865

Oil on board by E[dward] Carlill, presented floating in an unglazed box frame. Undated, though presumed to be of mid-twentieth century vintage.

Size of painting: 7" x 9 3/8"

External dimensions of frame: 8 1/2" x 10 3/4"

A charming study of a ship in full sail at sea, following in the wake of nineteenth century naive marine painters and Alfred Wallis of St. Ives, who most notably continued the tradition into the twentieth century.
