'Scrimshaw' - i.e. faux whalebone, resin of comparatively recent manufacture. (Purporting to date from the late 1830s showing an image of the 1660s).

Generally good condition throughout.

Shows the stern of a large, three-masted vessel moored close to the coast with a smaller boat alongside. In fact, based on Willem van der Velde the Younger's 'Der Gouden Leeuw voor Amsterdam', circa 1670.
