Lavishly illustrated survey of the great age of English caricature encompassing the work of Hogarth, Gillray, Rowlandson, the Cruikshank family and many others.  A new edition of a classic work originally published in 1967. Dorothy George (1878-1971) was well known as an authority on the eighteenth century, both as a social historian and expert on caricature. She compiled the British Museum's Catalogue of Political and Personal Satires for the period 1771-1832.
